Markat Morgan’s are trained by Jec Ballou Classical Training. When choosing a trainer for the young horses and the horses that would represent the ranch it was imperative to me that I find someone who could not only turn out a polished show horse, but do it with kindness and a built up trust. I spent a long time looking for that person who would always put the needs of the horses before their personal goals for the season and build strong, elegant, competition horses. I have found that person in Jec Ballou.
Jec has worked closely with me, taking horses from all parts of the country of varying ages and levels of training and training issues and through slow and patient training with an absence of side reins and draw reins she has developed several regional competitors for Markat Morgan’s, knowing full well that many of them would have to retire to begin their work in the broodmare barn.
Jec’s DVD Understanding Why a Horse Moves the Way He Does features two of the MarKat mares and clearly demonstrates the beauty and benefit of her training methods.
Although Jec loves them all, her very special favorite is Willow Hill Frivolous Sal (Sally) who she started as a coming 3 year old. Coming into the 2007 season Sally will be 6. Sally will remain with Jec as long as possible as they are such a good team.
Jec specializes in dressage, but does show the MarKat girls in hunt seat. I would personally recommend her to anyone looking for a trainer with top of the line skill mixed with kindness and caring.
